MAJA FERNQVIST has an extensive and globally multi-awarded Creative Director background. She got her degree in Art Direction/Communication in Stockholm and moved to NYC shortly after. Her experience with 15 years of creating branded storytelling, led her to pursue her own Directing career. Maja’s strong conceptual, visual and storytelling background has truly helped shaping her unique voice as a director where art and craft always sits at its centre.

Amongst Maja’s work there are music videos, art films, VR3D projects, commercials, and short films officially selected by film festivals. Her film work has been recognised with several awards and recognitions.

Maja was selected as one out of eight directors to attend the prestigious AFI DWW+ / Class of 2026. “Above The Sea” is Maja’s AFI DWW+ project, and it will get mentorship and attention from Hollywood industry professionals.
